($70). Being relative
newcomers to the world of Cognac, this
one was a bit of a shock. Thoroughly different
than the others we sampled, and seriously
pale by comparison. In fact, if the word
"pale" hadnt been in the
title of this wine, I would have thought
there was something wrong with it. But
it is delicious. More delicate than the
others, with beautifully interwoven tropical
fruit, spice, oak, and studded with delicate
floral notes reminiscent of honeysuckle
or violet. A quite feminine wine in the
rather manly Cognac world. (Robyn's Picks,

($300.) Extraordinary tasting.
Round and smooth on the palate, it is
approachable and delicious. Apricot, spiced
apple and pear fruit, smoke, vanilla extract,
old oak, and layer after layer of delicate,
balanced flavors. The finish is complex
and lasting, with the vanilla extract,
spices, and oak lingering the longest.
(Splurge Wine, 12/02)
($240). Aged for 50
years in the barrel, this Cognac shows
extraordinary apricot and spice aromas
and tastes. Voluptuous, balanced, and
harmonious, with a polished finish.
(Robyn's Picks, 12/01)
($115). Quite impressive
and rich, with an expressive floral
bouquet, and sophisticated flavors.
Round and full, with gorgeous cream
and fruit notes that border on tropical.
(Robyn's Picks, 12/01)
($35). A charming and
beautifully structured Cognac, with
distinct rich vanilla oak aromas and
flavors. The palate shows a full range
of flavors, including orange, dried
apricot, honey, and yeast. (Robyn's
Picks, 12/01)
($215). Deeply flavored,
with complex layers of spice, almond,
and orange. Terrific finish smooth
and lingering. A beautiful expression
of balance and structure in an obviously
well-aged, mature package. (Robyn's Picks,
